un-resolution
For a brief moment this morning I considered writing a few resolutions; however, I, like many, often fail at any "resolution". No matter how hard I try to drink more water, say no to sweets, limit the amount of time on social media and increase my self-care, I rarely make it past mid January.
I don’t need another New Year’s resolution that leaves me failed and unchanged.
I will start the New Year ready to tackle what is thrown at me! The disruptive, game-changing, transformational crap that comes with this life. So, I propose a new kind of “resolution”. Not doing one or three small things differently, but truly reflecting on our purpose and how we can act on it every day to make an enduring impact. First at home, with our person, our children and grandchildren, and outward from there, with friends, neighbors (even if they are assholes) and community.
I will be resilient as the days get harder and I will focus on being better this year than in the last.
